How many places have audio stories?
5,665, spread over the 130 cities. The city with the most is Munich, with 98 places; the cities page gives the count for each one.
How do I find out whether my city is in Roots Earth?
The cities page lists all 130 cities by region and country, each with its number of places and the languages its audio stories are in, so you can check before you install anything.
Does Roots Earth work without an internet connection?
Yes. Download a city's audio, then it plays without a connection. Download it on the hotel connection before you go out, and the stories play whether or not your phone has a signal.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no account, no sign-up and no login: install the app, pick a city, press play.
Which languages can I listen in?
Seven: English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch and Albanian. English and German cover every one of the 130 cities; Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch and Albanian cover 126 of them. Can I listen in Albanian?
In 126 of the 130 cities, yes. The written description is in Albanian in 12 cities, the 10 in Albania plus Munich and Ismaning; in the other cities the audio story is Albanian while the written description is shown in English.
Who writes the stories?
Local people write the stories. Every one of the 5,665 places has two stories written by local people, a short introduction and a deeper story.
