Berat Castle

Berat Castle has been continuously inhabited for more than twenty-four centuries, with walls that preserve layers from the Illyrian, Byzantine, Despotate of Epirus and Ottoman periods. A rarity in Europe, it is still home to around three hundred residents among Byzantine churches and Ottoman mosques and forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
