# Island Bay

Island Bay is Wellington's south coast seaside suburb, sheltered by Tapu Te Ranga island and shaped by an Italian fishing community since the late 1800s. Subdivided in 1879 and reached by tram from 1905, it fronts the Taputeranga Marine Reserve.
