Yorkville developed as a suburban community with residential, industrial and commercial activity; in 1836 Joseph Bloor and William Botsford Jarvis began laying out village lots. Today its Victorian streets and the Bloor Street Mink Mile hold luxury boutiques, galleries and grand hotels.
