Hie Shrine

Hie Shrine sits on a wooded rise in Nagatacho, near the heart of government. Moved here in 1659 under the Tokugawa, it guards the city's southwest and hosts the Sanno Matsuri, one of Edo's three great festivals. A covered torii stairway climbs the hill.
