Ginza

Ginza is Tokyo's most famous shopping district, named for a silver mint set here in 1612. Rebuilt in Western brick after an 1872 fire, it became a symbol of modernization. Today its avenues hold luxury stores, the landmark Wako clock tower, and weekend pedestrian streets.
