The Nine-Storey Buildings
The nine-storey apartment blocks near Skanderbeg Square became the tallest residential buildings in Albania before nineteen ninety. They defied the unwritten rule that no home should be taller than the Palace of Culture and introduced the lift, which children would come to try out in secret.
