# Rotunda of Galerius

Thessaloniki, Greece

A massive domed cylinder built around the year 306 as part of the emperor Galerius's palace complex. Later a Christian church and then an Ottoman mosque, it preserves rare early golden mosaics beneath one of antiquity's great surviving domes.
