The Thessaloniki birthplace of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey, born here in 1881. The pink three-story house on Apostolou Pavlou Street, now part of the Turkish consulate, is preserved as a museum with period furnishings and a pomegranate tree planted by his father.
