Parliament House, Sydney

The oldest parliament building in Australia, begun in 1811 and completed in 1816 as a wing of the convict-built Rum Hospital. Its colonial Georgian verandah fronts Macquarie Street, sheltering two chambers, one of them a cast-iron hall once destined for the Victorian goldfields.
