# Strasbourg Cathedral

Gothic masterpiece in pink sandstone from the Vosges Mountains, built on the foundations of a Romanesque predecessor begun in 1015. It was crowned in 1439 by a 142-metre spire that made it the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874. Its lace-like facade dominates the island of Grande Île.
