# Shirokë Village

Shkodra, Albania

This fishing village lies five kilometres west of Shkodër, on the shore of the largest lake in the Balkans. Around a hundred families earn their living from the lake, continuing a tradition dating back to Illyrian antiquity. The shore is recognised as a Ramsar site for its international importance to migratory birds.
