# Walls of the Macarena

Seville, Spain

The best-preserved stretch of Seville's medieval defensive walls, raised largely in the Almoravid and Almohad periods. Built of rammed earth with square towers, it runs between the Macarena gate and the Córdoba gate, recalling the city's vanished ring of fortifications.
