# Well of Junia Rufina (Butrint)

This sacred well in Butrint is a cave-like stone pit reached by descending a few steps. A Greek inscription by Junia Rufina, dating to the second century AD, links the water to the cult of the nymphs. The well was later repainted with Christian figures.
