Fort of Santo Antonio Alem do Carmo
Raised on a former Dutch trench and rebuilt in stone by the early 18th century, this fort once guarded northern Salvador. After serving as a prison until 1976, it began hosting the Centro de Cultura Popular da Bahia in 1982 and reopened as Forte da Capoeira in 2006.
