Pyramid of Cestius

A steep marble-clad pyramid built around 18 to 12 BCE as the tomb of the magistrate Gaius Cestius. A trace of Rome's fascination with Egypt, it survives almost intact because it was later built into the Aurelian Walls beside Porta San Paolo.
