Altare della Patria (Vittoriano)
A vast white marble monument to Victor Emmanuel the Second, first king of a united Italy. Designed by Giuseppe Sacconi and was inaugurated in 1911 while still incomplete, it holds the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Italy's eternal flame.
