Fortifications of Rhodes (Walls and Moat)

A four-kilometre ring of walls and dry moat, rebuilt by the Knights Hospitaller for the age of gunpowder with ramparts up to twelve metres thick. They repelled the great siege of 1480 and fell only after Suleiman's six-month assault in 1522.
