Porto, Portugal
Dom Luís I Bridge

A double-deck iron arch spanning the River Douro between Porto and the city of Vila Nova de Gaia, whose upper deck opened in 1886 and whose lower deck was completed in 1888, was designed by Théophile Seyrig, a former partner of Gustave Eiffel. Its 172-meter span was then the longest of its kind in the world.
