A granite Baroque church completed in 1739 on a rise above Batalha Square, its twin-towered facade clad in 1932 with approximately eleven thousand azulejo tiles by Jorge Colaço depicting the life of Saint Ildefonso, the seventh-century bishop of Toledo.
