Les Invalides

Les Invalides, Paris

Louis XIV's vast home for wounded veterans, founded in 1670 and crowned by Jules Hardouin-Mansart's gilded dome of 1706. Beneath the dome lies Napoleon's tomb, while the surrounding courtyards hold the army museum and still serve French soldiers.
