Ottawa's oldest English-speaking Catholic church, this Gothic Revival landmark grew from an 1855 parish into a stone basilica dedicated on 14 March 1875, with work continuing into the early 20th century. Pope John Paul the Second elevated it to basilica rank in 1995.
