Hog's Back Falls

Hog's Back Falls is a dramatic artificial cascade in Ottawa, created during the building of the Rideau Canal. Here Lieutenant Colonel John By's dam, completed in 1830 after collapsing three times, raised the river by 12.5 metres, turning a treacherous rapids into one of the canal's greatest feats.
