Napier Girls' High School

Opened on 29 January 1884 on Clyde Road, Napier Girls' High School began with 39 pupils under Mary Hewett. Its original building was so severely damaged in the 1931 earthquake that it had to be demolished. The motto Ad Lucem, towards the light, still guides the school today.
