St. Michael's Church, Munich

The largest Renaissance church north of the Alps, built between 1583 and 1597 by Duke Wilhelm the Fifth as a stronghold of the Counter-Reformation. Its vast barrel-vaulted nave and royal crypt, which holds Ludwig the Second, draw visitors on the busy Kaufingerstraße.
