Siegestor (Victory Gate)

Siegestor (Victory Gate), Munich

A three-arched triumphal gate commissioned by King Ludwig the First, built between 1843 and 1852 to honour the Bavarian army. Crowned by a lion-drawn chariot, it was damaged in the war and now carries a rear inscription that turns it into a memorial urging peace.
