A modern theatre on Max-Joseph-Platz, opened in 1951 as the main stage of the Bavarian state drama company. Built by Karl Hocheder on the site of the war-destroyed original, it stands distinct from the Rococo Cuvilliés Theatre and ranks among Germany's leading spoken-drama houses.
