A grand beer palace opened in 1883 at Stiglmaierplatz for the Löwenbräu brewery, designed by Albert Schmidt. Crowned by a corner tower and guarded by a reclining lion, its vast halls host weddings, concerts and Munich's strong-beer season, all rebuilt after wartime destruction.
