Karlstor

Munich's western medieval gate, first recorded in 1302 as the Neuhauser Tor and renamed in 1791 for Elector Karl Theodor. Its central tower was lost to a gunpowder explosion in 1857; the two surviving towers now frame the busy Karlsplatz, known locally as Stachus.
