Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne

Built in 1879 and 1880 to designs by Joseph Reed, this grand pavilion hosted Melbourne's great international exhibitions and the first federal Parliament in 1901. Crowned by a 68-metre dome in the Carlton Gardens, it became Australia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site.
