Qara Prison

Qara Prison, Meknes

A vast underground hall of vaulted chambers and pillars beneath Moulay Ismail's kasbah, built in the early 18th century. Legend names it a prison for Christian captives, though scholars believe it served mainly as a giant subterranean storehouse for the imperial city.
