Mellah of Marrakesh

Created in 1558 by a Saadian sultan, the Mellah was Marrakech's walled Jewish quarter near the Bahia and El Badi palaces. Once home to tens of thousands, it preserves synagogues, a vast cemetery, and a restored heritage of community life.
