El Badi Palace

A vast ruined palace built between 1578 and 1593 by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur and named the Incomparable. Once gilded with gold and onyx, it was stripped to build Meknes, leaving sunken gardens, a great basin and storks nesting on its high earthen walls.
