Place des Jacobins

Place des Jacobins, Lyon

An elegant square where twelve streets of the Presqu'île converge, named after a Dominican convent whose friars settled near Ainay in 1235 and began building a convent and church in 1240. Its tiered white fountain of 1885 honours four artists of Lyon beneath the rich facades of the 19th-century city.
