Lyon City Hall

Lyon's city hall has anchored the Presqu'île since Simon Maupin completed it in 1654, following construction begun in 1646; the council first met there in 1652 while work continued. Rebuilt after a 1674 fire under Jules Hardouin-Mansart, its sculpted facade and domed belfry preside over Place des Terreaux.
