# Amphitheatre of the Three Gauls

Lyon, France

Fragmentary remains of the Roman amphitheatre built in 19 AD beside the federal sanctuary where delegates of sixty Gallic tribes assembled. In 177 AD it became the execution ground of Lyon's first Christian martyrs, including the young slave Blandina.
