Águas Livres Aqueduct

An eighteenth-century aqueduct that carried spring water some 14 kilometers into Lisbon, striding across the Alcântara valley on 35 stone arches, the tallest 65 meters high. Commissioned by King João V in 1731, it survived the 1755 earthquake virtually unscathed.
