Shisen-dō

Shisen-dō, Kyoto

Built in 1641 as a scholar's retirement villa by Ishikawa Jozan, Shisen-do takes its name from portraits of 36 Chinese poets within. Now a Soto Zen temple, it is loved for its serene garden and clacking bamboo water device.
