# Myōshin-ji

The largest Rinzai Zen complex in Japan, founded in 1342 on an emperor's former palace. A walled temple-town of dozens of sub-temples, it holds a swirling dragon ceiling by Kano Tanyu and Japan's oldest dated bell, cast in 698.
