Kruja, Albania
Old Bazaar of Krujë

This Ottoman bazaar had been operating since the fifteenth century and was rebuilt from the ground up between nineteen sixty-six and nineteen sixty-eight, with work peaking on the five-hundredth anniversary of Skanderbeg's death. Today around sixty shops line a cobbled street three hundred metres long leading towards the castle. Many sell filigree work, alabaster, carpets and wood carvings, while some also sell factory-made souvenirs.
