# Mosque of the Three Doors

Kairouan, Tunisia

Founded in 866 by Muhammad ibn Khairun, this small mosque carries one of the earliest carved-stone facades in Islamic architecture. Three horseshoe doorways sit beneath bands of Kufic inscription and floral carving, a landmark of early Islamic art.
