Ismaning Reservoir
A large, shallow reservoir northeast of Munich, created in 1929 beside the Mittlere-Isar-Kanal. It regulates water for the canal's power plants and protects against floods, and ranks as an internationally important bird sanctuary where bathing is forbidden but wildlife watching and fishing thrive.
