Honkawa Elementary School Peace Museum

The Honkawa Elementary School Peace Museum occupies the basement of Hiroshima's first reinforced-concrete school, built in 1928 and the closest school to ground zero. Opened in 1988, it preserves the scarred building at the school where around 400 students, the principal, and 10 teachers and staff perished in 1945.
