# Studentenkarzer (Student Prison)

Heidelberg, Germany

Heidelberg University's old student prison, used until 1914 to confine students for minor offences. By the nineteenth century a stint inside had become a badge of honour, and inmates covered the cell walls with elaborate graffiti, silhouettes and crests still preserved today.
