Antigonea

Antigonea was a Hellenistic city founded around two hundred and ninety-five BC by King Pyrrhus of Epirus in honour of his wife Antigone. It was destroyed by the Romans in one hundred and sixty-seven BC and abandoned forever. Its identity was confirmed through the excavations of the archaeologist Dhimosten Budina.
