A hilltop basilica above Florence, begun by Bishop Hildebrand on 27 April 1018 and counted among the finest Romanesque churches in Tuscany. Its green and white marble facade, inlaid 13th-century pavement, and working Benedictine monastery crown the city with both art and devotion.
