Santa Maria del Carmine

Santa Maria del Carmine, Florence

A Carmelite church in the Oltrarno, founded in 1268 and largely rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1771. The blaze spared the Brancacci Chapel, whose early Renaissance frescoes by Masaccio, Masolino, and Filippino Lippi made it a school for generations of painters.
