Royal Palace of Fez

Royal Palace of Fez, Fez

A working royal residence founded by the Marinids in 1276 and still used by Morocco's king. Its vast grounds stay closed to the public, but the monumental brass gates on Place des Alaouites, framed in zellij and carved cedar, are among the city's great sights.
