Remédios Convent

A Discalced Carmelite convent founded outside Évora's walls in 1606 by Archbishop Teotónio de Bragança. Its austere early-Baroque church, consecrated in 1614, holds a richly gilded carved altar; the grounds later became the city's public cemetery.
