Chapel of São Brás

Chapel of São Brás, Evora

A fortress-like plague chapel built in the 1480s under King João the Second, just outside the city walls. Its brick walls, cylindrical buttresses topped with conical pinnacles and barrel-vaulted roof make it a striking example of Alentejo Mudéjar-Gothic.
